PJ Haggerty Enters Transfer Portal Following Stellar Season at Memphis
PJ Haggerty, the star player for the Memphis Tigers, has officially entered the transfer portal. Haggerty’s decision comes on the heels of a remarkable season during which he earned accolades such as the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year and was recognized as a Second Team Associated Press All-American.
Outstanding Performance
This past year marked a career high for Haggerty, who played a pivotal role in leading Memphis to an impressive 29 wins—tying the program’s best record since the 2012-2013 season. His contributions helped the Tigers secure both the AAC regular season title and the conference tournament championship. Memphis received a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round by the No. 12 seed, Colorado State.
Record-Setting Season
As one of the nation’s top athletes, Haggerty was the third highest scorer in the country, averaging 21.7 points per game and demonstrating his shooting capability with a 36.4% success rate from beyond the three-point arc. Additionally, he led the AAC in minutes played, reflecting his integral role on the team.
Looking Ahead
After short stints at TCU and Tulsa prior to his time at Memphis, Haggerty’s transfer represents a significant challenge for head coach Penny Hardaway and his coaching staff. They will need to fill the void left by Haggerty, and they are already making strides in the transfer portal.
New Additions to the Roster

These new additions signal a proactive approach by the Tigers as they prepare for the upcoming season while aiming to maintain competitiveness in the AAC.
