Amy Poehler recently surprised her ex-husband, Will Arnett, by joining him on the popular podcast SmartLess, which he co-hosts with Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman. This special episode marked the show’s 250th milestone.

Unexpected Guest Appearance

During the recording, Arnett expressed genuine surprise at Poehler’s unexpected appearance. “No!” he exclaimed when questioned about knowing she would join. The surprising twist was hinted at by their youngest child, who innocently noted, “You’re doing SmartLess? Does dad know?” Poehler humorously requested her child to keep the secret, saying, “No! Don’t say anything!”

After initial reactions settled, the conversation turned towards co-parenting their two sons, Abel and Archie. Poehler shared her perspective on parenting, likening it to “a series of short stories” that evolve as children grow. “A short story starts and you think, ‘I don’t know how this story is going to go…'” she explained, emphasizing the importance of adaptability in parenting.

Arnett, who married Poehler in 2003 before their separation in 2012 and finalized divorce in 2016, offered heartfelt praise for Poehler’s parenting abilities. Continuing to reflect on their parenting journey, Arnett stated, “I’m very proud of, certainly as parents, what we’ve been able to do.” He expressed gratitude for having Poehler as a co-parent, highlighting their consistent communication: “There aren’t many people I speak to more than I speak to her, which is weird.
