The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their strong midseason form with a 9–7 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Tuesday night, opening their three-game series with a hard-fought win. The contest featured a blend of offensive firepower, defensive miscues, and timely pitching, keeping fans engaged throughout the nearly three-hour game.

Shohei Ohtani delivered a pivotal moment in the sixth inning, launching his National League-leading 27th home run of the season—a two-run shot that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 8–3. Ohtani’s performance further solidified his MVP candidacy, as he continues to lead the league in OPS (1.014) and runs scored (77) .

The game began with the Rockies taking an early 2–0 lead, courtesy of RBI doubles by Michael Toglia in the first and third innings. However, the momentum shifted in the fourth inning when the Dodgers capitalized on two errors by Toglia, leading to a five-run rally. Michael Conforto’s three-run homer was the highlight of the inning, turning the tide in Los Angeles’ favor.

Dodgers’ pitcher Justin Wrobleski entered the game in the second inning and delivered a solid performance, striking out seven batters over five innings while allowing two runs. Tanner Scott secured his 16th save of the season by closing out the game in the ninth inning.

Despite matching the Dodgers with 14 hits, the Rockies were unable to overcome their defensive lapses. German Márquez, the Rockies’ starter, allowed six unearned runs over four innings before exiting due to an ankle injury sustained in the fourth inning.

The Dodgers’ offense was bolstered by multiple players contributing two hits each, including Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Teoscar Hernández, Will Smith, and Andy Pages. Hernández added an insurance run with an RBI double in the ninth inning.

For the Rockies, Michael Toglia achieved a career-high with three doubles, and Jordan Beck recorded three hits. Tyler Freeman extended his hitting streak to 11 games with two hits, while Hunter Goodman contributed two singles.

With this win, the Dodgers improved their record to 49–31, maintaining their position atop the National League West. The Rockies, now 18–61, remain at the bottom of the division.

The series continues on Wednesday, with the Dodgers aiming to secure a series victory and the Rockies looking to bounce back on their home turf.
