Logan Paul Expresses Disappointment Over UFC Outreach
Logan Paul, a notable figure in both social media and professional wrestling, has recently opened up about his attempts to connect with UFC CEO Dana White regarding a potential fight opportunity. On his podcast, “Impaulsive,” Paul shared that his efforts to engage White went unanswered, raising questions about the UFC’s interest in harnessing his popularity for mixed martial arts (MMA) events.
The Missed Opportunity
During his podcast, Paul mentioned that he reached out to White ahead of the landmark UFC 300 event, proposing to step into the Octagon as an undercard fighter at the Sphere in Las Vegas. He stated: “I texted him, ‘Hey man, consider me available to fight on the undercard in the Sphere.’ Basically, [he] completely ignored me, which I think speaks volumes. I haven’t bothered him about it since.”
UFC Event Highlights
While UFC 300 was anticipated to be a highlight in the organization’s timeline, it was UFC 306 that made history by hosting the first live sporting event inside the innovative Sphere venue. Despite the significance of the occasion, the UFC opted not to feature Paul, suggesting a hesitance to associate with high-profile personalities from outside the traditional MMA landscape.
CM Punk’s Legacy
Logan Paul speculated on the reasons for White’s indifference, linking it to the mixed reception of former WWE star CM Punk during his brief and challenging stint in the UFC. Paul remarked, “He f—ed it up, and after that Dana was like, ‘I’m never doing this again.’ But, dude, I’m not CM Punk. He’s a great wrestler, not a UFC fighter. I think I would be a much better UFC fighter than I would be as just a boxer. My skill is wrestling. I’m a wrestler.”
CM Punk’s UFC Journey
CM Punk’s UFC career consisted of two matches, both of which ended in defeats: the first to Mickey Gall via submission and the second by decision against Mike Jackson. Notably, the result of the latter bout was later overturned after Jackson tested positive for marijuana.
Logan Paul’s Combat Sports Experience
Despite his aspirations to transition into MMA, Paul has made a name for himself in combat sports primarily through boxing—including bouts against social media rival KSI and MMA fighter Dillon Danis, as well as an exhibition match with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. Additionally, his background as a high school wrestler is noteworthy, as he qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I wrestling championships in 2013.
Current Focus
For now, Logan Paul remains committed to his burgeoning WWE career, where he has garnered praise for his athletic abilities and charismatic presence, solidifying his status as a fan favorite in professional wrestling.
